Joleon Lescott
Player Profile

Joleon Lescott (born 16 August 1982 in Birmingham) is an English professional footballer who currently plays for Everton.

Joleon signed for Wolves as a trainee in August 1999. His debut came in the 2000/2001 season against Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux on Sunday 13th August 2000, aged 17. At the end of 2000/2001 season Joleon was named Supporters' Young Player of the Year. He also won the award for the second time at the end of the 2001/2002 season.

Joleon has also played at an international level for England for the under-18s, under-20s, under-21s and is tipped by many to play for the Senior England Team in the
future.

Joleon played an important role for Wolves since his debut and during the 2002/2003 season he missed only one League match and played in each of the games of the club's memorable FA Cup run. He was also a member of the team that defeated Sheffield United 3-0 at the Millennium Stadium to book a place in the Premiership for 2003/2004 season.

Following the play-off final in 2003 Joleon underwent surgery to both of his knees, which sadly ruled him out of the entire season when Wolves were in the Premier League.

Joleon was still a first team regular and signed a new two and a half year contract in October 2005. On June 1 2006, it was announced that he poised to move to Premiership club Everton F.C. for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £5.5m. On June 3 2006 it was announced that he had passed a medical but more talks between the clubs were required before the deal was made. The deal has taken a lot longer than normal and appears to be due to issues about his knees although Wolves insist the medical has been passed and the ball is in Everton's court.

On June 14 2006 Joleon Lescott signed for Everton Football Club and in his first interview as an Everton player he said "It didn't take me any time at all to make the decision. As soon as my agent said Everton were interested I said that was where I wanted to go and I made it clear to Wolves as well. They didn't stand in my way and I am thankful to them as well, especially Jez Moxey."
